HOW DOES THE AWARD WORK?

The Social Impact Schools Award is based on students at your school carrying out social action such as volunteering, fundraising and raising awareness.

The award is run by SuperKind Education C.I.C., a 100% not-for-profit organisation dedicated to empowering young children to make positive change happen in the world around them, through the website SuperKind.org.

When students have engaged in a social action, of any type and in any location, the action can be registered by the student or teacher on SuperKind.org to earn an online badge. This process takes just a couple minutes and teachers can log students’ action on bulk.

To achieve the Social Impact Schools Award, a school/alternative learning provider must register an average of 1 social action per student over the course of an academic year. These actions can be logged at any point throughout the academic year and we permit schools to back date actions since 1st September if you only set an account up later down the line. The award is a non-competitive accreditation and all schools who meet the award criteria across the academic year will be granted the award.

Please note, from time to time across the academic year, we may contact your school to request proof of the actions taken.

WHAT SOCIAL ACTION CAN STUDENTS EARN BADGES FOR?

There are 12 categories of social action listed on SuperKind.

Schools/alternative learning providers can log actions taken, and award online badges, to their students for each social action that they have engaged in. Students can also claim badges on their own by uploading details of social action that they have engaged in.

When a student first completes an action (for example, Writing a Letter), they earn the bronze version of that badge. The next time they complete the same action, they will receive a silver version and the next time a gold version.

Our Welcome Packs include suggestions and ideas for specific social actions for each badge type.

REGISTRATION AND APPLICATION

The cost to register for the award is £185+VAT for state schools & alternative learning providers, and £285+VAT for independent schools, though we have an early bird 10% reduction for schools who register before 31st December. The award is run by SuperKind Education C.I.C., a 100% not-for-profit social action platform. SuperKind has a wealth of content and resources to help schools create the next generation of change-makers. We provide this content completely free of charge to schools across the UK. As well as covering the costs of running the award, the registration fee allows us to run this educational platform and supports us in our mission to educate, inspire and empower young people. Included within your registration fee you will receive a Welcome Pack which includes, sticker sheets and certificates. You will also be able to download lesson and assembly plans and we will support you with great exclusive content across the year to help you bring social action into the classroom in a meaningful and engaging way – these resources will be specific to the age group of your school. Of course, if you are successful in achieving the award, you will also receive a physical copy of the award certificate.

Please note that with the generous support of a funder, who shares our ideals of empowering the next generation of change-makers, SuperKind is able to offer financial support to a limited number of schools to fully cover the cost of your entry to the Social Impact Schools Award.
