Shiplake College

At Shiplake College, kindness is a cornerstone of daily life, driving a genuine commitment to supporting both local causes and the wider global community. The school actively encourages pupils to look beyond the College grounds and recognise their capacity to make a tangible difference, embedding philanthropy and service into our core values.

Whether through ongoing volunteering partnerships, local outreach initiatives, or fundraising drives for international charities, Shiplake is a school where empathy and civic responsibility are put into meaningful practice.

On Friday 25 September that community spirit will be on full display as the entire school take part in a sponsored walk along the River Thames. Setting off from Moulsford, pupils trace the riverbank through Goring, Pangbourne, Reading, and Sonning before returning to Shiplake via the old Riverside Pitches.

The challenge tests endurance across all ages: Sixth Form pupils and staff take on the full 18 miles, Year 11 cover 16 miles, Years 9 and 10 complete 13 miles, and the Lower School 12 miles.

To add an extra element – we’d love to see the Houses in action for this Sponsored Walk – so show your colours and see how much your Houses can raise for this amazing charity!  Please share your link and don’t forget to tell your friends and family which House – as every donation adds to your House total. (If for any reason you don’t know which House to allocate your donation to – please add to GENERAL FUND – with a note for who you are donating to (if relevant) ie; Daisy Davies, Year 9 and we will allocate it for you). 

Through a truly shared effort and collective purpose, we hope to turn thousands of steps into vital support for the people of Kajuki, Kenya in partnership with St Peter’s Life-Line.
