What is London's Air Ambulance Charity?
London’s Air Ambulance is the charity that brings the emergency department to the roadside for the city’s critically injured patients. Its advanced trauma teams are the only people in London who can provide specialised treatments at scene – like blood transfusions, open chest surgery and reinflating lungs – when the patient does not have time to get to hospital.
The helicopter and rapid response car teams are ready to respond 24/7, 365 days a year, for every one of the 10 million people who live, work and travel in London. On average, five people a day in the capital need the life-saving care of London’s Air Ambulance.
It costs approximately £15 million per year to provide London with this vital service, but 96 per cent of London’s Air Ambulance Charity’s funding is reliant on public support.
