We chose ActionAid as our charity because we want to help make sure that girls and boys have equal opportunities to be the best that they can.
ActionAid work hard to help everyone understand the problems facing girls and women - violence, poverty, refusal of education and the right to be a leader.
As a group we researched how different the rights for boys and girls/men and women are and the statistics shocked us all : 60% of the world's hungry people are women, 130,000,000 girls are excluded from educated and only 12.5% of heads of state are women.
We all want to have the future we dream of and have realised the amazing opportunities we are offered regardless of our gender. We would like everyone in the UK and across the world to be offered the same as us. To achieve this we are holding a charity day where in UKS2 the children in Years 5 and 6 are going to enjoy a games morning. As Sandpipers we are going to run the game 'The Impossible Draw' - Play the game, draw a card to see if you have won a prize, a free turn or a Mystery prize!
If you would like to donate then please do so on our page.
ActionAid are dedicated to changing the world with women and girls. We are ending violence and fighting poverty so that all women and girls, everywhere, can create the future they want.
Whether you’re a teacher, student or parent, introducing our work to your school community empowers pupils to make a positive impact in the world.
