Your participants will already be excited, but you can take it up a level by hiring a DJ to provide music and make announcements. Since professional DJs can get booked quickly, it’s best to secure one early on. Ideally, choose a DJ who comes recommended by a colleague, friend, or another PTA that has experience with DJs suitable for your age group. To save on costs, some PTAs opt for willing parents to handle the music or create their own playlists. Whichever route you go, be sure you have the necessary licences, Third-Party Declaration, booking form, and insurance in place. For more details, check out our licence section. Depending on your event type you may be able to ask a local celebrity or presenter (or even a class teacher!) to host it. For example, if you are doing a sponsored run, you could ask a local fitness instructor or PE teacher to lead a warm-up session before the event gets underway. Lastly, help preserve memories by giving certificates or medals to participants in recognition of their efforts. You could also include information about their sponsored donations and how much they’ve helped raise for the PTA. If you create a campaign on SuperKind you will be emailed a certificate for the school and pupils after the end date of your campaign. If you have hosted a competition (& we recommend this be by class/house rather than individual, see more on this in the ‘Inclusive Fundraising’ section), you might like to consider adding a prize for the winning class (it could something physical or something more meaningful, like having a section of a new building dedicated in their name).
