12331111 The hard work of organizing a fundraising event doesn’t end once the event concludes; the post-event period is crucial for ensuring long-term success. Thanking donors and collecting feedback from participants are vital steps in this phase, as they not only acknowledge and appreciate supporters but also provide valuable insights to refine and enhance future fundraising efforts.
Thanking participants
Be sure to thank those who took part and donated to your event.
Consider giving out certificates or medals to participants in recognition of their efforts. Download SuperKind’s certificate templates here.
When it comes to thanking donors, donor’s typically expect three things: (i) prompt acknowledgment and processing of their donation, (ii) that it is used for the intended purpose, and (iii) that it achieves the anticipated impact.
Reach out to businesses that offered sponsorships, services, or prizes to thank them and convey the community’s appreciation. Maintaining positive relationships will increase the likelihood of their participation in future events.
Don’t forget to thank your volunteers too. Without them your event likely wouldn’t have been possible. Praising them now will motivate them to want to get involved again when the next event comes.
Collecting feedback from participants and stakeholders
Seek feedback from those involved in the event – whether they volunteered to help organise the event or participated in the event. Inquire about what aspects were successful, what fell short, and what improvements could be made for future events. You can collect feedback through in-person conversations, WhatsApp groups, or paper/digital forms. It doesn’t matter how you collect the information, the most important thing is what you do with it after! Remember to collate it all. In a year’s time you won’t remember everything that seems so critical straight after the event! 123
