My cycle ride from “parents” to “grandparents”

I've now come to the end of my big bike ride with my dad, from our house in Farnham, to my grandparents’ house near the city of Cuneo, in north-west Italy.

My dad did the trip on his e-bike, but I thought that was cheating, so I used a regular bike instead.

According to our GPS tracker, the total distance we cycled was 1,500.10 kms, but we think it was also measuring the distance across the English Channel! Our own recorded total distance was 1,366 kms.

It took us just over three weeks to complete the trip, from the 4th to the 28th July. We mostly followed the quieter “D” roads in France, but some of the main cities like Lyon and Grenoble were brilliant for cycling, because there are bike lanes everywhere.

This was a sponsored cycle ride, to raise money for the Lord Wandsworth Foundation, https://www.lordwandsworth.org/support/the-foundation/ which helps to provide an education to children who have unfortunately had to face much greater challenges than I have. My aim was to raise £1,500 in sponsorship, which is £1 per kilometre, and I'm really glad that I've managed to reach that goal!
