Book Drive for Dogs – Fundraiser
As part of our ongoing work around personal development, reading confidence and community engagement, Mill House School is launching a “Book Drive for Dogs” fundraiser in support of a local dog home.
Our pupils have the opportunity to visit the dog home in small groups to read to rescue dogs who are suitable for the sessions. Reading to animals can be incredibly powerful for children — it helps build confidence, fluency and enjoyment of reading in a calm, supportive and non‑judgemental environment, while also providing comfort and enrichment for the dogs.
If suitable dogs are not available during a visit, pupils will meet ambassador dogs who have all been rescued and are owned by staff, and they may also take part in educational talks about animal care, rescue and responsible ownership.
Through our Book Drive for Dogs, we are asking families to support the dog home by donating:
This fundraiser ties closely to our curriculum, our animal care qualification, and our commitment to developing empathy, responsibility and confidence in our pupils — while giving back to an organisation that does incredible work in our local community.
Thank you, as always, for your continued support.
