On Friday 19 June for our Founders’ Day we will be doing a sponsored walk. This event involves pupils in the Third Form, Lower Fourth, Upper Fourth and Lower Sixth walking as a community to raise money for bursaries at our partner school, Mustardseed School in Uganda.
We kindly request your support in encouraging your child to engage actively in this endeavour, as their contributions will make a meaningful impact on the lives of others.
At the heart of the link between Mustardseed Junior School and Magdalen College School are shared educational goals. Alongside fostering academic excellence, both schools aim to provide their students with a broad range of extra-curricular activities in a supportive environment. Both strive to nurture pupils’ confidence and curiosity, and equip them to make positive and lasting contributions to their communities.
In a recent update, we were delighted to learn of the transformative impact Mustardseed is having on the lives of young learners in Uganda. A noteworthy investment arising from our fundraising efforts was the creation of the ‘Waynflete Field’, where Mustardseed pupils in Uganda now play sport. This contribution resonated strongly with our pupils, as it represents a lasting and tangible impact of their fundraising. Through initiatives such as the bursary scheme, they continue to champion access to education for all, regardless of background or circumstance.
The sponsored walk will follow a 7.12 mile route for Third Form and Lower Fourth, and a 11 mile route for Upper Fourth and Lower Sixth from the Senior School site. The walk will follow a stunning circular route from the Senior School site, taking in Christ Church Meadow / St Aldates, the Isis / Thames, Port Meadow, North Oxford, The University Parks, Mesopotamia and Magdalen College grounds.
