How to choose from all the different types of events?

The list of potential sponsored activities is as long as you can imagine but we’ve compiled a short-list of sponsorship events that we’ve seen prove particularly popular and effective among children and schools. All of these activities focus on raising funds through pledges and donations rather than ticket sales:

  • Read-a-Thon: Sudents gather sponsors for the number of books or pages they read.
  • Spell-a-Thon: Students are sponsored for every word they spell correctly in a spelling bee.
  • Dance-a-Thon: Participants dance for a set period, with sponsors donating based on hours danced.
  • Math-a-Thon: Students complete math problems or tests, earning donations per correct answer.
  • Swim-a-Thon: Swimmers gather pledges for each lap they complete in the pool.
  • Bike-a-Thon: Participants collect sponsorships for every mile or lap cycled.
  • Jump Rope for Heart: Students get sponsored for the number of jumps they complete.

  • Free-to-choose Challenge – Students choose a personal challenge or project, such as learning a new skill or completing a creative task, and seek sponsorships based on their commitment and progress. It could be entirely free-to-choose, or there could be some guidance/basic structure such as “doing 10 somethings for 10 days, to celebrate our PTA’s 10 year anniversary”
