Who We Are
Books2Africa is an international Non-Governmental Organisation. Our mission is to promote a culture of 'readcycling' and to improve the quality of education in Africa, through the collection, processing, shipping and distribution of quality books, computers and educational materials, that enable individuals, institutions, and communities to acquire knowledge and achieve their full potential in a globalised world. So far, we have readcycled more than 3 million books and 259 computers to various African schools and communities.
Why Support Us
😟 Imagine if 202 million students in Sub-Saharan Africa couldn't enjoy the magic of reading after school! Also, 770 million across Africa have no access to electricity, and 936 million still have no access to the internet! Yet, about 13 million books go to landfills every year in the UK alone. That's like throwing away treasures!
🙌🏾 But here's the good news: Books2Africa advocates 'readcycling'—you can help by donating books, new or gently used, instead of tossing them away. It's eco-friendly, and boosts education in underprivileged communities.
Readcycling Week
🧐 Do you know that £1 can send 1 book to Africa?
♲ Readcycling Week is a week for you to organise a book drive to encourage people to donate books and raise funds to support the books' journey to Africa.
📖 By 'readcycling', we can extend the life of educational materials, meanwhile empowering readers in Africa with knowledge!
How you can support Books2Africa:
We are raising money to fund the shipping and distribution of 1 million books to readers across Africa every year. Would you consider supporting us?
