Who we are
At Barnardo’s, we believe in children – no matter who they are, what they have done or what they have been through.
Growing up is tough. Many children face really difficult starts in life – whether that’s from being bullied at school, to losing someone they love. It might be that they are separated from their family, or are struggling with their mental health.
We support children when they face these difficult moments. Our brilliant and friendly case workers across the country are ready to listen and give help when young people need us most.
Incredible things happen when you believe in children. Every day, up and down the country, we witness the amazing resilience, strength and potential of the young people we work with.
By supporting us, you will be a part of something brilliant which will help other children across the UK.
What we do
Through our services, campaigns, and research, we provide support to some of the most vulnerable children in the UK.
- We provide support for young people being looked after outside of their family – and we’re still there for them when they leave the care system.
- We give young people a voice in Government so they are heard. We help them to fight their corner and to share their views about the issues that affect their lives.
- We give support to young people who are struggling with their mental health, through one-to-one counselling, group work and providing health sessions at school.
- We provide centres for children and young people to talk to trained workers they can trust. We help them build their confidence and get to the root of their difficulties.
- We work closely with young people's parents - making sure they feel supported too. We have close contact with mental health professionals.
