How you can support Buckinghamshire Disability Service:
Edit Text
Our visionary aim is to abolish disability by building a world which is Fair4All - free of the barriers which disable people. To achieve this, we have built a working grassroots community of over 180 local disabled volunteers who work together, supported by staff to achieve our goals.
We tackle the issues which most affect disabled people in Buckinghamshire by whatever means necessary. We aim to support all issues impacting a disabled individual via our 16 projects, many of which are unique to the county, empowering thousands of disabled adults, young people and children across Buckinghamshire, endeavouring to permanently remove the barriers facing disabled people so that they can live and work independently in the short, medium and long-term. All our work is evidence-based, and the expertise of our professional volunteers mean we can often punch above our weight. These 16 projects can be categorised to 1 of 3 service lines - Disability Services, Fair4All, and Reach4Work.
The Disability Services projects are those directly helping and empowering disabled individuals in Buckinghamshire and beyond. BuDS’ Fair4All projects aim to build an inclusive world free of barriers. As part of this, BuDS aims to support disabled people to get the help they need and are legally entitled to in the community. Lastly, our Reach4Work service is a professional wrap-around service for our disabled volunteers who want to move into or closer to work, encouraging inclusion and independent living, whilst simultaneously reducing isolation. Reach4Work is the only Buckinghamshire disability employment scheme which remained fully open and expanded during the pandemic, as we understood the mental pressures faced disproportionately by disabled people during this isolating period.
