Who we are
Feeding Britain is a national charity working to end hunger. With 350 projects across the country, we are getting affordable food and wrap-around support to people who are struggling to make ends meet.
Support on the ground
We support a network of partners to deliver affordable food and wrap-around help to people who are struggling to make ends meet. We also pilot innovative and effective new projects to work out how to best eliminate hunger from our communities, and share this knowledge across our network.
Systemic change
We know that however hard community-led projects work to support people in crisis, many of the root causes of hunger need to be addressed through changes in policy and legislation at a national level. We take the lessons and information about the causes of hunger from our network of partners and share them with decision makers. We push for changes that will end hunger and the need for foodbanks in the UK. To do this, we work closely with ministers, officials and a cross-party group of MPs and Peers.
Our Impact
We support a network of more than 350 projects across the UK, who provide affordable food to over 75,000 households. Collectively, we estimate that this saves members of affordable food clubs millions of pounds each year. Feeding Britain’s Healthy Holidays programme has provided more than 100,000 children with nutritious meals and enriching activities. It also provided evidence of the importance of school holiday programmes, which Feeding Britain’s supporters used to push for nationwide holiday programmes for children. This resulted in the Holidays Activities and Food (HAF) programme, a government funded programme to provide food and activities during school holidays for children who receive benefits-related free school meals.
How you can support Feeding Britain:
RAISE MONEY…
You could raise money at home, at school or in your local community. You could fundraise on your own, or team up with friends or family members to raise money together. You could organise a bake sale, a quiz, a sponsored walk, a dress down day at school, or anything else you can imagine.
SPREAD THE WORD…
Tell everyone you know why you love Feeding Britain and the work we do, and why you are fundraising for us. You can also write a letter to your MP, telling them that no one in the UK should have to be hungry. We have a list of things we would like the government to do to help stop hunger in the UK, including making sure that all students who are eligible for free school meals receive them automatically.
