Hampstead Heath - Our home

Heath Hands works with people and groups of all backgrounds and abilities wanting to get involved in volunteering across our green spaces. We deliver a range of free activities and events on Hampstead Heath, Highgate Wood and the Kenwood Estate.

Our vision is that Hampstead Heath provides a sanctuary for wildlife and people, and that it is protected for the enjoyment of all. We believe that everyone has a role to play in protecting our green spaces through conservation, environmental education and community involvement.

Our aims

Heath Hands has four key aims which form part of our 2030 strategy and underpin all our programmes and activities on Hampstead Heath and our other green spaces. 

1. Conservation: Heath Hands helps to conserve our amazing green spaces, maintaining a rich mosaic of important wildlife habitats and preserving the unique character of this landscape. 
2. Community: We work to give everyone from the community, regardless of background or ability, the chance to get involved in volunteering and recreation on Hampstead Heath and nearby green spaces.
3. Learning: Heath Hands works to connect people to nature across our green spaces through an engaging programme of free nature activities to inspire and educate people of all ages.
4. Wellbeing: We provide opportunities to improve the physical and mental wellbeing of all participants in our activities, being inclusive and welcoming.
