About Lepra
Lepra is a UK-based charity dedicated to tackling tropical diseases like leprosy and lymphatic filariasis (LF), which impact the most vulnerable communities in India and Bangladesh.
We work in partnership with affected communities to help improve detection and ensure access to free treatment and care, helping people to overcome the physical, social and emotional impact of their diagnosis. Our vision is a world free from leprosy and LF.

Schools' Fundraising
Lepra have been working with schools for over 50 years to help educate young people like yourselves learn about the impact of the world’s oldest and most neglected disease - leprosy.
A Lepra fundraising project is a great way to inspire you to think globally, and to work on an impactful social project which will make a meaningful difference to people affected by leprosy.
Over the years young people across the UK have 'run to India', baked with flair, worn silly shoes, and showed they care. With so many fun ways to show your support why not take a look at our fundraising pack for more ideas https://www.lepra.org.uk/uploads/Lepra_School_Pack_2024.pdf.
How your money helps
All donations big or small have an impact. Here are some of the ways your donation can make a lasting difference to people affected by leprosy and LF in India and Bangladesh...
- £5 can help our field specialists to treat children affected by leprosy in hard-to-reach communities
- £25 can help us screen 500 school children and detect early cases of leprosy and lymphatic filariasis (LF)
- £120 can help us deliver medical treatment and reduce the risk of disability for up to 12 people affected by leprosy
How you can support Lepra:
Move for Lepra Challenge - Want to encourage physical activity and a good sense of community? Students must run, walk, or swim to cover a chosen distance. You could aim to cover the distance from your school to India (around 5497 miles) or walk the length of India, north to south (around 1997 miles), raising sponsorship along the way.
Silly Shoesday - Get ready to showcase your wild and wacky shoes, socks, or footwear creations to raise awareness about the effects leprosy can have on the nerves exposing people to risks which may result in harm to their fingers, toes, and feet. Lepra provides protective footwear to people affected by leprosy and LF. £6.50 will purchase a pair of protective sandals enabling a child affected by leprosy to walk to school without further injury or infection.
