About us

We believe in a fair and equal society where all lesbian, gay, bisexual and trans people can achieve their full potential. Our work is as vital and urgent as ever. LGBT people still face discrimination and inequalities. Through our services we reduce isolation amongst our communities, help people feel more confident and in control of their lives, and enable people to flourish.

Every year we give a voice, provide help and offer hope to 40,000 people. We work in partnership with others to build strong, cohesive and influential LGBT communities and promote attitude change in society, reaching 600,000 people online each year.

Our services and activities include: a range of support groups; face-to-face counselling; a helpline, email and pop-in service; a befriending scheme; workplace training; a range of guides and resources; a national website; advice drop ins; LGBT infrastructure support; various research projects and policy campaigning.

Our impact

Over the past year, we have:

  • Delivered 1,035 LGBT-affirmative and inclusive talking therapy sessions to 276 people
  • Ensured 2,634 people with nowhere else to turn had access to immediate advice and support through our helpline, email and pop-in service
  • Supported 46 people to make friends, build their networks and reduce loneliness through our Befriending scheme
  • Supported 561 LGBT people through our support and social groups

How you can support LGBT Foundation:

Every day we provide over 500 hours of lifesaving support and services. We need your help to provide these essential services to our communities and be here for every single LGBT person who needs us. Demand for our support is growing, and we’re seeing more people in crisis than ever before.

  • Do you have a great idea to raise money for LGBT Foundation? Give it a go! If you're feeling sporty, you could do a sponsored walk, cycle, or climb. Or if you'd prefer to do something less tiring, why not try a bake sale or sponsored dinner party. For inspiration, ideas, and tips on how to organise a fundraising event, email[email protected]
  • Complete our Equality Wins activity book (& encourage your friends and school to do it too!). Our fun and interactive activity book will help raise awareness about LGBT identities.
  • Join the LGBT community and campaign on social media using the #InSolidarityWithYou. Our Equality Wins campaign is here toraise the voices of all LGBT people, including those who have been underrepresented or marginalised for too long. We want to bring our communities together to change attitudes and behaviours in wider society.
