The Impact

The impact of exploitation, violence, and trauma is deep, leaving lasting scars on the lives of vulnerable children and young people. According to the NSPCC, 1 in 5 children in the UK have experienced some form of abuse.  Their voices are often unheard, and the systems meant to protect them sometimes fail to do so. At Link to Change, we are fighting to change that.

The scale of the challenge is immense: nearly 1 in 10 children are estimated to be at risk of serious youth violence, and over 60% of young people involved in exploitation have suffered from childhood trauma. Yet despite these statistics, there is hope. By acting now and scaling our efforts, we can transform the lives of young people and create safer, more resilient communities. But time is of the essence – with urgent and strategic action, we can reverse the damage and create a world where young people thrive, not just survive.

At Link to Change

For over 20 years, we’ve been working tirelessly to support those at risk of child exploitation, trafficking, and serious violence. But we don't just intervene – we empower. In the past year alone, we have worked with over 900 children and young people in Bedfordshire and Luton, helping them rebuild their lives and break free from cycles of violence and abuse. By putting the voices of children and young people at the heart of everything we do, we create lasting change, not just for individuals, but for entire communities.

 Our work is holistic, using trauma-informed, person-centered approaches to empower young people, restore their sense of agency, and help them build brighter futures.

It’s a journey that will take time, but the first step is one we must take together – with urgency, empathy, and determination.
