What we do

The Children’s Book Project believes that every child deserves the joy of having a book they can call their own. 💛

Lots of children don’t have many books at home, and that can make it harder to fall in love with reading. So we collect gently used books from families who have finished with them or publishers who want to donate them. Then, we share those books with children who need them most, for free!

How it works
  • Families, schools, and publishers donate books they no longer need.

  • Friendly volunteers sort the books to make sure they’re ready to share.

  • The books are then given to children at schools and special events, where kids can pick out stories they love and take them home, for free!

 

Our impact

How you can support Children’s Book Project:
  1. Donate children’s books - You can donate books you have grown out of to us via one of our Book Hubs across the UK. We will put them directly into the hands of those families that will benefit most. Click here to access details of our UK wide drop off points.
  1. Run a book drive - You could organise a book drive and invite members of your school or wider community to bring in any children’s books that their family has grown out of. We have lots of hints and tips on how to run a book drive on our website. Click here for further information.
  1. Fundraise for us - It costs just £5 for us to support a child for an entire academic year, gifting them with 6 books to take home and keep.  If you can fundraise on our behalf, we would be hugely grateful!
