How you can support The Stephen Lawrence Day Foundation:
We're so excited to have you on board as an important part of Stephen Lawrence Day!
By joining us for Stephen Lawrence Day, you will be helping to create a more inclusive and compassionate society.
Here are some creative ideas for how you can get involved:
- Non-Uniform Day - Organising a non-uniform day is a simple and fun way to get involved in Stephen Lawrence Day. Encourage students and teachers to wear something that celebrates their individuality and what makes them unique. Donations from the non-uniform day could go towards supporting the Stephen Lawrence Day Foundation's work in promoting equity and social justice. Ask for pay-what-you-can donations rather than a fixed amount to ensure that everyone can participate.
- Reading Challenge - Invite your classmates to select and read six books that explore social justice and celebrate diversity. Students who complete the challenge will receive a certificate or digital badge and a bookmark about Stephen’s story. Find out more here.
- Spread the word - Help to spread the word about Stephen Lawrence Day and its key messages of hope and equality, by sharing Stephen's story, in order to build awareness and inspire change. Ask your teachers to include information on the Stephen Lawrence Day Foundation in the school’s newsletter, website, parent forums, and social media.
- Make a Pledge on social media - If we each commit to taking one action on Stephen Lawrence Day that will positively impact the lives of young people from marginalised backgrounds, together we can honour Stephen's life and legacy, and build a fairer, kinder and more equitable society in his name. It’s time to make your #StephenLawrenceDayPledge . You could use the following copy as the basis for your pledge: "This Stephen Lawrence Day I pledge to (insert your pledge here)to make sure the next 30 years look different from the last. #stephenlawrencedaypledge” . You can also find graphics and media for the post here.
