About Us

We are the only UK charity working at a national and international scale to improve lives by planting trees in cities.

We get stuck in with local communities to cultivate lasting change in their neighbourhoods – whether it’s revitalising forgotten spaces, creating healthier environments or getting people excited about growing, foraging and eating healthy food.

Our Impact

We have planted 1,765,366 trees since 1993. 

We have also engaged over 140,000 volunteers. 

 

Our Trees for Schools Programme

Our Trees for Schools programme aims to transform urban school grounds into leafy green areas for both the children of today and for future generations.

We working with children and schools to create healthy playgrounds. We reimagine and redesign existing tarmac playgrounds to introduce trees, forest gardens, food-growing, outside classrooms, woodland play areas, mini-forests and wildlife habitats.

How you can support Trees For Cities:
  • Raise money: Take part (or organise!) a fundraising event for the trees. You could run for the trees, sing for the trees, or sell art for the trees! 
  • Volunteer: Convince one of your parents or guardians to join you and come plant a tree (or two... or three... or more!) with us! Tree planting season typically runs from October to March as this gives the tree a chance to be bedded in time to grow throughout the summer. You can find out about volunteer opportunities here. 
  • Trees for Schools Programme: Talk to your school about signing up to the Trees for Schools Programme to turn your school playground into a beautiful natural area.
