Who we are

The World Health Foundation supports the work of the WHO (the United Nations agency working to promote good health and well-being to everyone around the world).

The WHO bring together 194 countries and work on the frontlines in more than 150 locations to confront the biggest health challenges of our time.

What we do

We support the WHO to make sure that everyone, wherever they live, have access to the medicines and essential services that they need.

Rooted in research, the WHO set standards and regulations that protect people as they grow, live, work and age. They enable children to survive and reach their full potential, support their mothers to have healthy pregnancies, and ensure that people can enjoy longer, healthier and more productive lives.

Our impact

The World Health Foundation provides the funds to support the WHO in their amazing work.

Since the WHO was founded in 1948, they have:

  • Eradicated smallpox
  • Seen a near-eradication of polio
  • Developed a vaccine for Ebola
  • Cut HIV mortality in half between 2005 and 2015
  • Presented more than 20 million child deaths since 2000 thanks to the measles vaccine
  • And assisted more countries to move towards providing universal health coverage (like the NHS in the UK) so that everyone has access to adorable health services
Our vision

But there is still a lot of work to be done!

The World Health Foundation needs your help to achieve a world where everyone can live healthy, production lives, regardless of who they are or where they live. We need to continue to boost our trajectory of lives saved and lay the foundations for better health for all.

  • Organise a blue and white themed dress up day to match the World Health Organisation colours
  • Host a school song competition, inviting your classmates to make a song about global health and asking the audience to make a donation to attend
£16 could pay for 100 children to be vaccinated against Polio and £50 could pay for an hour of a leading medical researcher's time towards developing new cures and treatments to deadly diseases. Raising Awareness  Host an event to celebrate World Health Day (on the 7th April 2023). Give a speech about global health and how people can improve it.
