Leagrave Primary School

Leagrave Primary School used SuperKind to unite staff, students, and parents in meaningful social action — from litter-picking to international charity support — boosting pupil confidence, ownership, and community spirit along the way.

What drew you to use SuperKind?

We first came across SuperKind in an email and were instantly intrigued. After exploring the website, we loved the look of the programme (The Social Impact Schools Award) and the exciting opportunities it offered our pupils. The site was very easy to follow, and the support we received when we reached out was amazing.

How was SuperKind implemented at Leagrave Primary School?

We launched Superkind during a staff meeting to ensure all staff were aware of the project, understood the expectations, and knew how to collect evidence to showcase the good practice at Leagrave. From there, we introduced SuperKind in a whole-school assembly so that every child was informed and engaged. This helped set a shared understanding and established the project as something the whole school community would work on together.

Teachers then wove SuperKind activities into daily lessons, giving children the chance to work towards their badges in meaningful ways. Progress was celebrated and shared: teachers updated one another at fortnightly staff meetings, while children’s achievements were proudly recognised in weekly assemblies. This rhythm kept the project alive, exciting, and at the heart of school life.

What are some examples of social actions that the Award has led you to take?

  • Litter-picking around the school grounds and local community

  • Donating old resources to a school in Belize

  • Partnering with a new charity to support less fortunate children in Kenya

What benefits have you seen for your students?

  • Children taking real ownership of their learning and achievements

  • Opportunities for parents to get involved and join in school life

  • A boost in pupils’ confidence and pride

  • A deeper awareness of the positive actions they can take to help others

Have you had any feedback from students, staff, or parents?

Teachers agreed that SuperKind was a simple, well-organised, and brilliantly communicated project to follow. The flexibility of the badges made it easy to weave into lessons, keeping children actively involved and excited. Parents were updated through our fortnightly newsletters, and many even joined in, helping the school achieve badges together. The communication throughout the entire process has been exceptional. We have really enjoyed using the assembly materials, as they are child-friendly and full of ideas. What stands out the most, though, is the incredible support from the team.
