Since 1541, The King’s School has offered an outstanding quality of education. We are delighted to be one of the highest achieving comprehensive schools in the country, but this has only been possible thanks to the support from staff, parents, governors, Old Petriburgians (the OPA) and members of King’s Friends. Our extended family has helped us to develop wonderfully rounded individuals, in a Church of England foundation school, through a wide range of extra-curricular opportunities that appeal to all interests and tastes.
Central government funding is projected to do little more than cover our staffing and maintenance costs. Refurbishment, significant repair, improvement to our facilities and the supporting of additional curriculum projects is only made possible through our ability to fundraise successfully.
As an exempted charity we are bound by and operate within the rules laid down by the Charities Commission and also the Fundraising Regulator. We want your generous donation to have maximum impact on the lives of the children at the School, and we will do all we can to make sure that this is happening in as efficient and cost-effective way as possible.
Additionally, a great deal of charity fundraising takes place each year for charities chosen annually by the students. Activities have included various sponsored events, collections and the Sixth Form Revue. Each year there is a ‘Charities Week’ which in the past has included a non-uniform day, various sales and a wide variety of entertainment. Each event enables pupils to use their own initiative, enthusiasm and organisational skills. Sixth Form Prefects take the lead in helping and encouraging younger pupils with events. Last Year the pupils raised over £13,400 during the year, which was split equally between 4 charities.

In St Oswald’s we hope to lead by example, to support each other and to take advantage of every opportunity that presents itself. We…

In St Chad’s we see ourselves as part of the wider school family and part of a house which seeks to be a caring, challenging and energetic part of that family. We just want to have a go, all are welcome and all should be encouraged to take part and be a part of St…
Every year, the Charities Prefects select 4 charities that represent and have a relevance to the school and our wider community. This year we have decided to support the World Food Programme, Sickle Cell Society, Sue Ryder Thorpe Hall and CRY (Cardiac Risk in the Young). We will be organising a range of events including…

This year Peterborough Cathedral launched an urgent fundraising appeal to secure its future. This iconic landmark, central to the life and history of Peterborough and the Diocese for nearly 1400 years, needs ongoing support to remain a vibrant part of our community and an enduring beacon of faith, history, and culture. As The King’s (The…
UPDATE – SEPTEMBER 2025. We raised £37,438.69 last year through regular donations, gift aid, the support of King’s Friends and some corporate sponsorships.
