Brightside’s Happy Shoesday

On Tuesday, 19 May 2026, Brightside is stepping out in style for Happy Shoesday! This event is all about celebrating creativity, movement, and mental wellbeing.

The Mission

We’ve chosen to support Living Streets because they make our world more walkable and safe. Best of all, 50% of the money we raise stays at our school to benefit our students directly, while the rest supports national walking safety.

Walking for Mental Health

Since this falls during Mental Health Awareness Week, we are adding a special "Brightside twist." Throughout the day, we will hold a school-wide Walk and Talk.

Using special conversation cards, pupils will get active outside while discussing their wellbeing - proving that a simple walk can make a big difference in how we feel.

How to Take Part

• Wear Happy Shoes: Pupils can wear any shoes that make them smile - the brighter and bolder, the better! (no flip flops or high heels - must have straps and be sensible to wear outside)

• Bring a Donation: You can make a donation right here on this page. If you prefer, you can also send a small cash donation directly to your class teacher. We appreciate your support either way!

• Get Talking: We’ll be heading outside to walk, talk, and support one another’s mental health.
