Happy Shoesday

We are excited to let you know that we are participating in Walk to School Week (18–22 May 2026),  which encourages children and families to enjoy the benefits of walking and staying active. We are encouraging all children to travel actively to/ from school. Children will receive a booklet and be awarded stickers for active travel. This can include walking, scooting, cycling or  park and stride. 

We would also like to share with you that we will be celebrating  Happy Shoesday on Tuesday 19 May 2026!

This May, we’re inviting our pupils to take part in a fun and feel-good fundraising day that celebrates walking, wellbeing and creativity. On this special day, children can come to school wearing any shoes that make them feel happy – whether they are bright, bold, sparkly, comfy, sporty or wonderfully weird!

For safety and comfort, please ensure that footwear is suitable for a full school day. Children will need to take part in all their usual learning activities,(which could include PE) so shoes should be secure, practical and not open-toed. Heelys, flip flops and high heels are not permitted.

This initiative is free for schools to take part in and we’re pleased to share that 50% of the money raised will stay with Fairfield and Colneis, while the other 50% will go to Living Streets to support their important work in making streets safer, healthier and more walkable for everyone.

We’re looking forward to seeing lots of creative and cheerful footwear!
