Welcome to the fundraising page for The Babraham Hike!
At Babraham Primary School, we are incredibly fortunate to be situated in a beautiful part of Cambridgeshire, surrounded by meadows and woodlands where nature and wildlife flourish. Stewardship is one of our Christian values and an important part of The Babraham Way, where we strive to take care of our school, our community and our world. We believe that children are more likely to value and protect the natural environment when they have the opportunity to experience it first-hand. The Babraham Hike is an opportunity to put this value into action as children, staff and families explore and celebrate the landscape around us.
The Babraham Hike will take place on Thursday 9th July. There will be different routes for different age groups, with a shorter walk for younger children and a more challenging distance for older children. Along the way, we hope to nurture resilience, teamwork and a sense of adventure, all the while encouraging children to notice and appreciate the wildlife and habitats they encounter. After the hike, we will return to school for a well-earned picnic and ice cream as we celebrate our achievement together!
We are raising money for the Wildlife Trust BCN's Wilder Future Fund, which supports the restoration and protection of wetland habitats across Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Northamptonshire. Wetlands are some of the UK's most important habitats for wildlife, but around 90% have been lost. The fund supports nature recovery, helps communities take action for wildlife and promotes nature-based solutions to climate change. https://www.wildlifebcn.org/wilderfuturefundwetlands
As a school, we want our children to understand that they have the power to make a positive difference in the world around them. Through experiences such as The Babraham Hike, we hope to empower them to take action, care for the environment and recognise that even small actions can have a meaningful impact. By taking part, they are not only challenging themselves physically, but also contributing to a cause that will benefit wildlife and local communities for generations to come.
Our ambitious goal is to raise £1,000. For a small school, that is a big target, but with the support of our families, friends and community, we hope we can achieve it.
Thank you for sponsoring us and helping us create a wilder future for nature.
