Comic Relief

Comic Relief is a British charity. It was originally founded by British comedy screenwriter Richard Curtis and comedian Lenny Henry in 1985, in response to the famine in Ethiopia at the time. The organisation aims to raise money and awareness for charitable causes all around the world, with the vision of “a just world, free from poverty”. The idea behind Comic Relief was originally to make people laugh while raising money for good causes. In support of the charity, a Red Nose Day event has been held every two years. This involves a live television broadcast featuring a host of comedians and celebrities.
