We are small, friendly community school with a big heart. Our inclusive nature means that we welcome children with a whole range of needs. Some of these children require a calm and quiet space sensory space to use. This space helps to prevent and manage the disruption caused by sensory overload events, through pre-emptive usage when stress/anxiety is bubbling.

A sensory space also enables children to calm down in a safe and secure way if they do become dysregulated. This space would not only benefit our children with special educational needs but as children’s mental health has seen a significant decline since the pandemic, more and more children are experiencing symptoms such as anxiety and panic attacks. This space would allow any child in the school, a safe area to manage their feelings and emotions away from the busyness of the classroom.

As previously mentioned, our popular school is small but with large classes. This means that every single square foot of space is used for teaching children in; there isn’t a spare room or cupboard in the whole building! This means that the only way we can accommodate such a facility is to create an external space such as a sensory shed/room or stand-alone pod.

Our amazing Reception and Caterpillar Room staff are completing a hike along Ingleton Waterfall Trail on Sunday 13th July in order to raise money to equip our VERY kindly donated new garden room with some amazing resources. If you could help by sponsoring them, or any way we would be SO grateful!
