Colour Run for Organ Donation Memorial

Hi, I'm Lottie! I really really really would like to raise enough money to pay for a permanent memorial at Torbay Hospital to forever remember people who have donated their organs to save other's lives and the families of those people. AND HERE'S WHY. I don't remember it much, but on the 6th July 2011, I was born in Torquay Hospital and they say that I was extremely poorly and the doctors said that unless I had a liver transplant within 14 days, I would not survive. I don't remember it much but Mum and Dad say that it was the longest 2 weeks, the most terrifying 2 weeks and the most frustrating 14 days ever. Frustrating because the surgeons were ready to go, the amazing operating theatre was ready to go, but too few people were prepared to donate their organs, even when they were gone, and so despite being on the Super Urgent List for a transplant, there just wasn't one for me and that made my parents terrified. Though I don't remember it much, I'm pretty certain that I was annoyed too! But on day 15, a miracle happened. A stranger donated their liver and I became the smallest person in the world to have a liver transplant. I will never forget why I am now able to play with my friends, come to Stover and live a full life. Without my donor and without thousands of other donors, so many families would not have a happy story to tell. It was August 12th 2011 when my life was saved. That day, my brother, Daniel, decided to sign the organ donor register himself, I guess 'cos he was pleased at what had happened to me. Sadly, a few years later, following a horrific accident, Daniel's last wish was granted and he saved the lives of 6 strangers himself. He will always be my other Donor Hero. From 4 weeks old, helped by Mum and Dad, I started to raise awareness about how important it was and is to agree to be an organ donor. I've tried my best over the years to make as many people listen as possible and now I'm determined to raise enough money for the permanent 'Sea Grass' memorial which the hospital have agreed to put right in the entrance area at the hospital. The memorial will salute and name those amazing donors and their families and I hope too that it will be a place which might cause other people to stop and consider their wishes. Then even more lives will be saved! I've worked hard selling my homemade apple juice, setting up coffee stalls and car boot sales and donating half of my pocket money each week towards the memorial and so far I have raised over £3000. I am now so grateful to Stover School for offering to help move towards the target of £10,000 and really hope that you will help out. Please watch my YouTube video below for the full story, sung by Nick Tilley! He may even be at school to sing it live on the day! Fingers crossed! Any money raised in excess of that required for the memorial will be donated to the Torbay & South Devon NHS Charitable Fund.
