RUN TOGETHER, GROW TOGETHER!

HELP US GROW A BRIGHTER, GREENER PLACE TO LEARN AND THRIVE!

At Our Lady and St. Joseph, we are very lucky to have amazing grounds filled with plants and trees, which make our school such a special place. Following last year's impressive fundraising efforts, we have been able to complete our Outdoor Classroom project, giving the children yet another incredible space to learn, play, gather and enjoy the outdoors.

This year, the children are once again taking on the challenge of running 2km around Highbury Fields (1km for Reception and younger children) in their third consecutive Run Kids Run! event. Our aim is to further enhance the wonderful OLSJ grounds by creating a new garden and revitalising an outdoor learning space where children can grow plants, develop gardening skills and enjoy learning in nature.

Greening Our School Project

There is a large rectangular area outside Year 6 which was previously covered by rotten decking. This has now been removed, revealing protruding tree roots. We plan to install new planters around the perimeter of the space, replacing the former planters outside Year 5, which had also deteriorated over time. We will then lay bark mulch to create a safer and more level surface, together with seating and a potting table beneath the central tree.

The result, we hope, will be a long-lasting new home to resume our much-loved Gardening Club, a peaceful retreat for children and adults alike, and an attractive enhancement to the main school pathway used every day by pupils, staff and families travelling to Year 5, Year 6 and the Buckingham Road Gate.

We secretly hope that this space will become so inviting that even more children—especially those who have run to support it—will be inspired to join the Gardening Club. In future years, we would love to see the Club and its planters extend to other areas around the school.

It's shocking how expensive everything has become, but together we believe we can raise the £10,000 needed to bring this vision to life.

Remember that the OLSJ Parents' Association is a registered charity, so all eligible donations can be Gift Aided.
