Read-a-thon – 100,000 minutes of Reading!

The Isle of Ely PTA are excited to join in the World Book Day celebrations and launch our 100,000 Minutes of Reading campaign, where the entire school community comes together to read for a combined total of 100,000 minutes (or more!) in just 5 days! This World Book Day themed challenge is an incredible opportunity for our students to develop a love for reading, improve literacy skills, and, with your sponsorship, raise money for the PTA to support the school in nurturing children's imagination and passion for storytelling by bringing real life authors into school later this academic year. 

How it works:

1. Track that Reading: Teachers will be sneaking reading into every corner of the day and track their class's minutes, submitting their totals daily. You could join in at home and set a target for the number of minutes read after school!
2. Get Sponsored: Parents, friends, and even local businesses can sponsor students. You can record your sponsors on the sponsorship sheet sent out electronically to families if you wish. At the end of the event, please ask your sponsors to donate their money on this site. Unfortunately, we will be unable to accept cash for this event.
3. Celebrate Success: Everyday we'll be updating the PTA Facebook page with the minutes read in school. Which class will manage to clock up the biggest total? All money raised will be going towards author workshops for all children to enjoy!
