Year 2 have been learning about schools in Kenya as part of their geography learning this term, comparing London with Nairobi.
We know many homes always have books to be recycled and we like to encourage everyone in Year 2 to bring in a book next week to recycle for our 'Readcycling' week. We will then package up the books and send them to a school in Africa that would benefit with the help of the fantastic charity 'Books 2 Africa'. If families can donate 50p, it enables to cover the postage to fly the books out which is about £8 per box. This was so successful last year and it was a wonderful way for children to recycle and share their love of reading, as well as learning about people's lives all over the globe. We can keep adding to the boxes in the week after half term.
We hope the children will enjoy sorting, packaging and preparing the boxes and we'll let you know when the packages have been sent. Once we have a tracking number, we can follow their journey. The children will also share their project in assembly.
