Transform Our Playgrounds with OPAL

At Wincheap Foundation Primary School, we're raising money to transform our playgrounds and field into a place where children can have the most fun; where they can climb, build, create, explore and play every day, whatever the weather. We are fortunate to have a lot of space; but little to engage and inspire the children when outside.

Playtime makes up 20% of a child’s school day, or one fifth of their time at primary school! And with statistics suggesting children spend up to 6 hours a day in front of a screen, these moments matter more than ever. We want to provide the best opportunities for our children to thrive. Playing is how they make friends, solve problems, build confidence and simply enjoy being children.

We will be sourcing donations of loose parts from the community - dress up, lego, cars and dolls, picnic rugs, mud kitchen pots and pans, pallets, tyres & more. But with your support, we'll add climbing and balancing equipment, a giant sandpit, water-play stations, all-weather shelters, places to build dens and hideaways, and storage for loose parts that children can use to invent games and bring their ideas to life.

These aren't just short term playground improvements. They'll change the landscape of our school for years to come. Change that will allow every child to be active, imaginative and adventurous; to work together, take healthy risks and create memories that will stay with them long after they leave primary school.
