Running Challenge

Rose is putting on her running shoes for an amazing cause this August! She's embarking on a daily challenge: running 5 laps of our village field, every single day, for the entire month! 

Rose has chosen to fundraise for Retina UK because she wanted to fundraise for a charity that supports research. They are the leading UK charity focused on inherited sight loss, and they're making incredible strides in understanding and treating conditions like Stargardt disease.

• Revolutionary Gene Editing (Prime Editing for ABCA4 Mutations): Scientists are working on a precise technique to fix the faulty ABCA4 gene that causes Stargardt disease. This groundbreaking research aims to correct genetic errors, offering genuine hope for future treatments that could restore or preserve sight.

• Unravelling Everyday Symptoms (Photopsia and Photophobia Research): Life with Stargardt disease can bring challenging symptoms like seeing distracting flashes of light and extreme sensitivity to bright light. Retina UK is funding research to better understand these experiences, ensuring people get the right diagnosis and support.
