On this page you can find a list of common FAQs.
We hope that this answers all your questions, but should you wish to discuss anything further please do not hesitate to get in touch via email on award@superkind.org or using our contact form.
To achieve the Social Impact Schools Award, the students at your school/learning provision must earn an average of 1 social action badge per student member on SuperKind.org over the course of an academic year. Students are awarded badges by their teachers on SuperKind.org, or they can claim their own badges, by informing SuperKind when they have carried out any of 12 categories of social action.
So by way of an example, an establishment with 500 students would need to achieve a total number of student badges of 500 or above before the end of the academic year. Each student can earn up to a maximum of 36 badges on the site.
No – a student can carry out an action in any location, through any medium. However, we can only count social actions that have been registered on the SuperKind website and earned a badge for.
SuperKind is a not-for-profit whose mission is to encourage children to take social action. We are delighted by whatever form that takes – and most of our actions are not web-based in any event.
SuperKind is a social action platform for schools. Once a school/learning provider registers (for free) on the website, teachers are able to add students and award them badges whenever social action activities are carried out. We also have stickers and certificates available for you to award to children in assemblies etc.
Children can also claim their own badges by clicking on the relevant type of action on the Take Action section of SuperKind. They will need to login or create an account in order to claim the badge.
Children can earn up to three badges for each category of social action (e.g. writing a letter, volunteering, donating etc.)
Across the year, SuperKind may periodically request evidence of the actions taken for badges that have been awarded.
From time to time across the academic year, we may contact your establishment to request proof of the actions taken. This should not be laborious and we work hard to keep a balance between verification and being too burdensome.
Applying to be a Social Impact School and achieving the award provides several benefits:
Any learning provider regardless of age and sector can achieve the award. We have separate resource packs designed for schools of different age groups. We also have lots of alternative learning providers who take part in the award too!
No, the award has purposefully been designed to be based on an average number of badges earned per student, so there is no disadvantage or advantage based on the size of your establishment.
We are acutely aware that social action (e.g. fundraising or donating) can often involve financial resources. Accessibility is a key element of SuperKind and our platform is designed to be as inclusive as possible in all ways, including in terms of economic status. The vast majority of social actions listed on the site are deliberately designed to involve free-to-take actions.
Register using our registration form here.
Registration costs £185+VAT for state schools & alternative learning providers and £285+VAT for independent schools. SuperKind.org, which runs the Social Impact Schools Award is a 100% not-for-profit, dedicated to educating, inspiring and empowering young people to make a difference to the world around them.
With the generous support of a funder, who shares our ideals of empowering the next generation of change-makers, SuperKind is able to offer financial support to a limited number of schools to fully cover the cost of your entry to the Social Impact Schools Award. If you feel the cost is prohibitive to your school’s registration please get in touch (on award@superkind.org) and we will see if they can support you.
The registration fee makes you eligible for the award. As part of the registration you will also receive monthly classroom/assembly resources and sticker sheets/posters depending on the age of your students. Additionally, you can book a consultancy call with SuperKind to discuss how you can enhance your active citizenship offering. If your establishment meets the badge criteria for your student population you will receive a png file of the award and a physical certificate (via post) which can be displayed on your website and within your establishment.
The Social Impact Schools Award is specific to each year. As such the Award logo and Certificate that you receive will be dated. All schools will need to reapply for the Award in and meet the 1 badge/student criteria in the subsequent year.
You will be informed of whether you have achieved the award via email before 1st September. If you have been successful, you will receive a digital image of the award to display on your website, as well as a printed certificate to display in your establishment.
If you did not receive an automated welcome email after 10 minutes, please check your junk/spam folder. If the email is not there, you can contact the SuperKind team here. In any event, please chat to your IT department and request that they add the domain superkind.org to their safe senders like to make sure that you receive future emails about your award progress!
We hope we have answered all of your questions but if you have any more questions whatsoever then we’d love to hear from you! You can get in touch via email at award@superkind.org or using our contact form.
