Year 5 – End Hunger UK

The Mission
This term, our Year 5 children are taking their learning beyond the classroom. Inspired by their studies on Islam and the holy month of Ramadan, the children have identified a pressing need within our own community.

In the UK, the Trussell network of food banks provides a vital lifeline to thousands. After learning about the significance of helping those in need and the empathy developed through fasting, our pupils are leading a month-long campaign to ensure no one in our community goes hungry.

Why It Matters
 Our Year 5 changemakers have been moved by these values and have set a goal to support the Trussell charity in their vision for a future where everyone can afford the essentials.

How Year 5 is Leading the Way
The children are the campaign directors. Their efforts include organising the community Iftar dinner and sharing their reflections on Ramadan. The children also wrote and delivered speeches to communicate their reflections with the community and make a call to action - supporting those in need in the community. 

How You Can Support
We are inviting the whole school community to join our Year 5 leaders. You can help by contributing a donation to the Trussell charity. Every £1 raised helps Trussell provide emergency food parcels and support services to help people break the cycle of poverty.
