PSA and KPS take on the One Million Steps Challenge
Did you know there’s a 10-year life expectancy gap between Slough and Windsor? Just a few miles apart, yet the difference in health outcomes is staggering. To make a difference for our community, Pioneer Secondary Academy (PSA) and Khalsa Primary School (KPS) will be stepping up…
Introducing the One Million Steps Challenge, an amazing initiative that will unite our school families, friends, and the wider community as we walk towards better health while raising funds.
Partnering with The Slough Hub, this challenge is about more than just steps, it’s about connection, community spirit, and change. Walking together strengthens bonds and creates a shared sense of purpose. With every step, we’re showing that small actions, when combined, can make a big impact.
What’s the plan?
Both schools will be taking part in this exciting challenge. The goal? For each participant to walk one million steps by June 2025.
Students, parents, families, and friends will all be joining in - whether it’s walking to school, taking a family stroll in the park, going out for a mindful morning walk, or organising a group walk with other parents, every step will count. It’s not just about reaching a milestone; it’s about making memories and building healthy habits that last a lifetime.
Why It Matters
Walking is simple yet transformative. It improves physical health, boosts mental well-being, and brings people together. By joining forces, we can encourage healthier lifestyles and tackle the health disparities in our area. By caring for our physical health through walking, we honour our bodies while nurturing our mental and spiritual well-being. Walking not only strengthens the body but also clears the mind, aligning perfectly with Sikh principles of mindfulness and self-care.
Through this challenge, we aim to encourage our community to care for their bodies, embrace mindful practices, and walk with purpose, honouring both their health and faith.
