Frasier’s change-making journey was born out of a simple piece of homework in Year 4. When Frasier’s teacher asked the class to write a story about diversity, he knew immediately what he wanted to write his story on.

Having recently learnt about the refugee crisis and felt shocked & saddened by the hardship that refugees had to face, Frasier decided that this would be the topic of his story. Frasier had already donated some of his old clothes and toys, but writing a story seemed like a perfect way to raise awareness and get other people to help too.

Inspired by some fictional storybooks he had read – particularly Roald Dahl’s Charlie and the Chocolate Factory –  Frasier popped his creative thinking cap on and came up with a fictional storyline. Frasier decided to tell the story of the friendship between himself and an imaginary refugee child. He wanted to remind people that though we may speak different languages and come from different places, as humans we all share an incredible link

Frasier’s teachers, classmates and parents were completely blown away by his story.

With a little help from his parents, Frasier entered his book into the Book People’s Bedtime Story Competition. Out of more than 1,300 books, Frasier’s book was crowned the winning book! His book was put into publication, making Fraiser one of the UK’s youngest published authors.

But Frasier wanted to do more than spread awareness, so he decided to donate some of the money that selling his book made to a charity. He researched all sorts of different charities that looked after refugees and decided to support Save the Children.

‘I love reading and writing stories and to know that my book will be read by children all over the country and help raise funds for the charity I chose, Save The Children, makes me very proud.’
